Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 3/4 cup (150g) brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated white sugar
  • 1 large (50g) egg, room temperature
  • 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp (1.5g) salt
  • 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, stir together the melted butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until the mixture looks like wet sand and is free of large lumps.
  2. Whisk in the egg and vanilla extract until the batter becomes smooth and glossy.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, whisk the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Gradually fold the dry mixture into the wet ingredients using a spatula. Stir only until no streaks of white flour remain.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Scoop about 2 tablespoons of dough per cookie and roll them into balls.
  7. Place the dough balls 2 inches apart on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 8–10 minutes. Remove the cookies from the oven the moment the edges are golden brown, even if the centers still look slightly soft.
