Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated white sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 tsp (10ml) vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp (5g) baking soda
  • 1 tsp (6g) salt
  • 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the softened butter and both sugars vigorously by hand for about 2 minutes until the mixture looks pale and fluffy.
  2. Stir in the eggs one at a time, then fold in the vanilla extract until the batter is smooth and glossy.
  3. Sift in the flour, baking soda, and salt. Using a spatula, gently fold the flour into the wet ingredients until no streaks of white flour remain.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  5. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto parchment-lined sheets, leaving 2 inches of space between them.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 9–11 minutes, pulling them out when the edges are barely golden brown but the centers still look slightly soft.
