Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated white sugar
  • 1/2 cup (100g) packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg (50g)
  • 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
  • 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Cream together the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl. Beat on medium-high for about 2 minutes until the mixture looks pale and fluffy.
  2. Stir in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Slowly add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients. Mix on low speed or by hand just until the white streaks of flour disappear.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a parchment-lined sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 9–11 minutes. Remove when edges are light golden brown but centers still look slightly soft. Let them firm up on the hot pan.
