Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 4 cups fresh broccoli florets, bite-sized
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
Instructions:
- Whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and cornstarch in a small bowl. Note: Keep whisking until the sugar is fully dissolved and there are no clumps.
- Heat the vegetable oil over medium high heat in your skillet. Wait until the oil is shimmering but not smoking.
- Add the ground beef in a flat layer. Let it sear undisturbed for 3-4 minutes until a dark brown crust forms on the bottom.
- Break the meat apart with your spatula. Cook for another 3-5 minutes until the beef is fully browned and no pink remains.
- Toss the broccoli florets directly into the pan with the beef. Stir fry for 3-5 minutes until the broccoli is bright green and shows slight char marks.
- Pour the sauce over the mixture. Stir constantly for 2 minutes until the sauce thickens into a glossy, velvet coating.
- Remove from heat immediately to prevent the sauce from becoming too thick or sticky.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
