Ingredients:
- 3/4 cupcup unsalted butter, melted and hot
- 1 cupcup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cupcup light brown sugar, packed
- 2large large eggs, room temperature
- 1 tablespoontablespoon pure vanilla extract
- 3/4 cupcup Dutch-processed cocoa powder, sifted
- 1/2 cupcup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoonteaspoon sea salt
- 1/2 cupcup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8 inch square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on two sides to act as a sling.
- In a large microwave-safe mixing bowl, combine the hot melted butter with granulated sugar and light brown sugar. Whisk vigorously to dissolve the sugar crystals.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract. Whisk vigorously for exactly 2 minutes until the batter lightens in color and becomes slightly thickened and aerated.
- Sift the cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, and sea salt directly into the bowl. Fold gently with a silicone spatula only until the white streaks disappear to avoid gluten development.
- Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips if desired. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes. The brownies are done when the edges are set but the center remains slightly soft. Allow to cool completely in the pan before slicing.
