Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup (150g) packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 1 large (50g) egg, room temperature
- 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp (5g) baking soda
- 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
- 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until the mixture is pale and fluffy.
- Incorporate the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until the batter looks velvety and smooth.
- Sift in the flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix on low speed or stir by hand just until the white streaks of flour disappear.
- Fold in the chocolate chips gently to avoid overworking the gluten.
- Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a parchment-lined sheet.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove them the moment the edges are golden brown but the centers still look slightly underbaked.
